Reversible Roof Fans For Building Ventilation   By: oleg tchetchel
The concept of venting smoke and heat was first outlined by Industrial Risk Insurers (IRI). Use of powered ventilation could eliminate the problems experienced with gravity vents. Specially designed roof mounted exhaust fans would mechanically vent heat and smoke under emergency fire conditions.(read entire article)

Roof Ventilators   By: oleg tchetchel
A simple roof ventilator is essentially an opening in the roof with a cover to keep out rain and to prevent winds from interfering with its functioning. Natural convection is an appreciable aid to ventilation in a large building only if it contains sources of large amounts of heat. A further useful adjunct is a fan fan, device for agitating air or gases or moving them from one location to another. Mechanical fans with revolving blades are used for ventilation, in manufacturing, in winnowing grain, to remove dust, cuttings, or other waste, or to provide draft for a fire. The addition of distribution ducts to the fan and a system for forcing air into the building provides greater efficiency. Outlets are designed to attain maximum mixing of air and to move large amounts of air at low velocity so that temperature layers are eliminated. Factories have special suction hoods and enclosures to draw away localized dust, fumes, and heat. Incoming air may be cleaned of dust by filters or electrostatic precipitators.(read entire article)

Inline Duct Fans For Ventilation   By: oleg tchetchel
The air delivering capacity of axial flow fans ranges from 100 to 500,000 cubic feet per minute (3,000 to 15,000 cubic meters per minute). Impellers usually have blades with airfoil cross-sections.(read entire article)

High Pressure Blowers In Series By Buffalo Blower   By: oleg tchetchel
The advantage of blowers in series is that of the availbale space. If system must be expanded and increaases the CFM requirements, the allotted space for the original blower may not be large enough for a single large blower, but might be large enough to istall two smaller blowers in series to obtain the necessary pressure.(read entire article)

Side Channel Regenerative Blower   By: oleg tchetchel
Of all air handling equipment, regenerative blowers are probably the least understood. However, when system parameters fall within their range, they can be among the most cost-effective methods for moving air and producing pressure or vacuum.(read entire article)

Non-sparking Fans And Blowers   By: oleg tchetchel
Hazardous location air exhaust / ventilation fan (sometimes called explosion proof) may be required in any area where the presence of flammable gases, vapors or finely pulverized dust in the atmosphere is sufficient to create a threat of an explosion or fire. It may also be required where easily ignitable fibers or flying's are present. The following information is a representative, but is not an all-inclusive, list of the types of locations and operations that require hazardous location air exhaust / ventilation equipment in at least certain areas. Consult the current National Electric CodeĀ® for complete and current information.(read entire article)

Sealed Fans And Blowers For Sulfur Recovery   By: oleg tchetchel
Sulfur removal process requires a gas-tight, zero leakage, high temperature and high pressure blower for intermittent duty that must handle toxic gases and must be capable of being brought on line immediately upon demand. To do this the following features on the blower must be provided: - Double welded casing construction; - Steam flows between the housing walls to maintain a constant 285 F gas temperature inside the fan (because below 285 F sulfur will change from a gaseous to a solid state and will "freeze" to the blower surfaces causing damage or destruction); - A mechanical shaft seal with heat tracing and purge by air or nitrogen; - To assure tight tolerances between the shaft and shaft seal, the housing should be supported at the centerline, and grows concentric to the fan shaft when exposed to heat.: since this support isolates housing from the drive and mounting bases, housing thermal growth doesn't cause forces to be applied to these bases.(read entire article)

Improved Quiet Compact Vaneaxial Fan   By: oleg tchetchel
The advantages of VA Series vaneaxial ventilators is their intrinsic spark-resistant construction because of all-aluminum construction; quiet operation of true vaneaxial design; lower energy consumption due to efficient wheel design.(read entire article)

New Practical Approach To Building Ventilation And Cooling   By: oleg tchetchel
Outside air temperatures are considerably cooler than those inside a building. As superheated air is exhausted, provision should be made to replace it with fresh, cooler, outside air. When high temperature air is replaced by outside air, a substantial improvement in the average ait temperature of the building results. Even where outside air temperature may be in the 80s or 90s, invariably it is 15 degress to 20 degrees cooler than the air it replaces. This is a very important improvement to the individuals affected.(read entire article)
