Blackberry Curve Cell Phone Review   By: gilbert e. baldwin
Structure wise the Blackberry Curve 3G is similar to the other members of this series; stylish and compact, it weighs less than other Blackberry Curve models. The screen is clear with a decent contrast and crispiness of a 320 x 240 pixel display. The QWERTY keyboard which has become synonymous with Blackberry smartphones sits firmly and does not wobble. The optical trackpad is raised a bit and more space has been allotted to the Menu, Call, Back and End keys thereby removing any chances of error when hitting the desired buttons. Another commendable feature is the inclusion of the media keys like play/pause/mute and back and forward on top of the phone. The call quality is superb; most calls are loud and clear but rare complaints of a hollow sound have been reported by some users. The Blackberry Curve 3G made its debut with the operating system OS 5 and could be upgraded to the Blackberry OS 6. With OS 6 it was at the receiving end of a dynamic home screen, a Webkit browser and features like Universal Search and notifications bar. E-mail has always been the strong point of Blackberry smartphones and the Curve 3G does not disappoint its users either. Composing, sending and receiving e-mails is a breeze and the preloaded IMs Blackberry Messenger, Yahoo, AIM, GoogleTalk and MSN provide a variety of instant messaging options. Other options include text and multimedia messaging. The Camera and video quality is just average. Like other members of the Curve family, the Curve 3G comes with a 2 megapixel camera with a flash and auto focus. The photos taken by this phone are just average and the video quality is nothing to write home about. Wi-Fi and GPS are quite impressive; the GPS in collaboration with Blackberry Maps finds locations accurately and pretty quickly. Other features of the Blackberry Curve 3G are voice dialing, conference calling, speed dialing, speaker phone, vibration mode and Bluetooth. The “organizer” tool contains a memo pad, address book, calendar and task list so that you can remain organized. You can check your schedules, compose short memos and check your address book for contacts. Also included in the Curve 9300 is a documents viewer for Microsoft Office, PDF Documents and WordPerfect. The Curve 9300 has 256 MB of internal flash memory and 256 MB built in storage memory along with a 2 GB micro SD card which can be replaced by 32 GB micro SD if you want to expand the memory further. The Curve 9300 gives up to 5.5 hours of talk time on one charge which is sufficient for everyday use. The Curve 9300 will not disappoint you on the media front as well and with expandable memory, there is a lot of room for media files. Conclusion Overall the Curve 9300 is a great phone and multimedia device but lacks the ability to take great pics. This device is reasonably priced and fulfills your communication needs very well. E-mailing and texting is quick and convenient but other features like the media player and the camera are rather ordinary. 3G enabled, Wi-Fi and GPS navigator make it more powerful than other cell phone in the same price range. If you have not used a Blackberry phone before, you will love this device. The BlackBerry Bold is well constructed and has a solid classy feel, though it does seem a bit heavy but it fits in your hands perfectly and it fits well within your pocket. In terms of size, it lies between the two; its dimensions are larger than the Curve but smaller than the BlackBerry Bold. The Blackberry Tour uses the same 2.4 inch 480 x 360 pixel resolution screen as the BlackBerry Curve resulting in sharp, clear and bright images full of lively colors. Below the display panel, sits the trackball navigator, back button, Talk, End keys and a menu shortcut. The QWERTY keyboard though not as large as the Blackberry Bold, is comfortable to use. You are still able to type with accuracy and speed. The voice quality of the Blackberry Tour is outstanding, whether you are using headphones or speakerphone; the reception is loud and crisp with little or negligible background noise. The 3.2 megapixel camera is definitely a plus as it comes with a 2x zoom, image stabilization and auto focus. The Tour comes with a video recorder and geo tags your photos automatically. Overall the pictures' are quite nice and can be classified as above average quality. The GPS in the Blackberry Tour guides you accurately and quickly and offers two mapping choices. The Blackberry Maps which gives GPS positioning without voice guidance and the VZ Navigator which offers turn by turn directions with voice directions. However the VZ Navigator has to be purchased as an optional feature. Even when not in the office, the Blackberry Tour can keep you connected with your work through features like conference calling, voice dialing and a built in speaker phone. Bluetooth which can also act as a modem is another feature of the Blackberry Tour. You can also get Visual voice mails by paying a nominal monthly charge. Speed Dial, 3.5mm jack and a mini USB port are also a part of the Blackberry Tour's many features. Its dual functionality; in other words its ability to support the CDMA networks in the US and GSM networks outside US has made it the most suitable device for frequent travelers. It switches effortlessly between GSM and CDMA network for international roaming. It is compatible with many e-mail and messaging clients and though it lacks Wi-Fi, its absence does not make any significant effect on the phone's performance. The Media player is quite impressive and an optional 2GB micro SD card provides storage space for videos and music. The Blackberry comes with 256 MB of built-in memory. Screen lock, password protection and sleep mode are some features which will protect your Blackberry Tour. The removable and rechargeable 1400mAhr lithium battery powers the Blackberry Tour supporting approximately 5 hours of talk time. Blackberry Vs Iphone Review   By: gilbert e. baldwin
Both phones have similarities and differences; the similarities being in the battery life and design. Ease of use got equal votes and largely relied on what people preferred. Some found the larger screen of the iPhone better and did not mind sacrificing the physical keyboard for the touch screen keyboard. While others loved the BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard on the Blackberry phones, because they claim it made typing simple and that it was a fair sacrifice for a smaller screen. As far as user friendly applications are concerned, the iPhone clearly leads the front. There are thousands of applications available and though there are a couple of hundred applications which are pretty lousy, overall the iPhone applications are far better than those of the Blackberry. Users tend to drop their phones accidentally and butter fingers like myself do that frequently. Designed for the road warriors, the Blackberry is by far more durable than the iPhone. The motion sensibility and the touchscreen of the iPhone remain unparallel. But the touchscreen has made the iPhone quite sensitive and as long as you do not drop it face down, it usually survives the fall. The iPhone however has come out with several protective cases that will more than protect your iPhone from any serious damage. The advantage of the iPhone's touchscreen and motion sensibility becomes evident with gaming. Comparing the iPhone and Blackberry in terms of gaming is like comparing a bicycle with a supersonic jet. Playing games on the iPhone is the best you can find in a cell phone and this is just one reason for the iPhones popularity. A variety of games can be played on it and the graphics are simply amazing. Blackberry lags far behind in this department. When it comes to security, the fact that the most powerful man on the Earth uses a Blackberry Phone speaks volumes of its security features; the iPhone is way behind in this area, but by no means is considered to be unsecure. The CPU of an iPhone is faster and the memory capacity greater but the lack of voice Command and Copy Paste features lets it down a little compared to other phones. The performance of both devices is outstanding where internet and Wi-Fi are concerned. Both devices browse the web well and access popular social networks with lightning speed. However in business applications the Blackberry is the clear winner due to its ability to link with Microsoft Exchange. Though the new iPhones are offering an MS Exchange Link, it will take Apple sometime to come up to the level of the Blackberry. Another area where it beats the iPhone is the ease of push e–mail. Roaming charges of the Blackberry are low compared to the iPhone and that's why it is preferred by the frequent travelers who like to keep in touch with their business associates or family when they are on the move. Any changes made in the calendar or contact list in the PC in Exchange automatically appears on the Blackberry thus eliminating the need to do so manually. Conclusion The iPhone is faster than the Blackberry and comes with more storage space. It is the best choice for those who want a strong entertainment environment as the gaming options and the multimedia features are far superior to Blackberry. On the connectivity, security and business applications front, it bows down to the Blackberry. The Blackberry is hopeless at gaming and needs a lot of help when it comes to applications. However it makes up with its linking ability with the Microsoft Exchange server. Blackberry is a strong reliable business oriented device; while the iPhone is a hip, attractive device with a wide range of apps. Please see our Author's box below for incredible Blackberry and iPhone Cell Phone offers, and other exciting news of what you need to know before purchasing a cell Phone.(read entire article)
