Established in 1924 by the Boston chain store magnate Charles Adams, the Boston Bruins were one of the 'original six' teams of the National Hockey League (NHL) along with Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Bruins were the first American hockey team in the NHL that had been previously made up of teams from Quebec and Ontario. The Bruins were not quite successful initially, winning only six out of thirty games in the first season and just seventeen out of thirty six in their second season. However, the team gradually grew better, garnered fantastic fan support and went on to claim 5 Stanley Cup Championships - making Boston Bruins the American ice hockey team with the second most Stanley championships. The trophy for the leading scorer of the NHL is still named after Art Ross - the legendary coach of the Bruins.

The home arena of the Bruins is TD Garden that was formerly known as the Boston Garden. Designed by Tex Rickard, the Boston Garden was opened to public on November 17, 1928. Located above the North Station, the Garden has been the home ...
... arena of the Bruins and the Celtics. It is a popular locale for ice shows, circuses, amateur sports and rock concerts. The home arena of Boston Bruins has also served as exposition hall for political rallies.

The Boston Garden had become an almost defunct structure by the early 1990s. The building featured no air conditioning, structural pillars obstructed the view and its seating capacity was less than 15,000, making it one of the smallest arenas in the country. The garden also did not have any luxury suites that were increasingly becoming a major source of revenue for all the teams in professional sports.

Planning for construction of a brand new arena began in 1991. Finally an agreement was drawn up for an 18,000 seat arena for the Boston Bruins that would come up north of the crumbling Boston Garden.

On May 14th 1995, the Garden witnesses its final official game - an NHL quarterfinal series of the Eastern Conference played between the Bruins and the New Jersey Devils. The Bruins lost to the Devils who won this series 4 games to 1. The very last event held at the Garden was the preseason game played between the Montreal Canadiens and the Bruins on September 28th 1995. The new FleetCenter was opened to public in October 1995. Two years later, the Boston Garden was demolished. Now the site that was once the home arena of Boston Bruins is a parking lot. The FleetCenter was later renamed as TD Garden.
The 2009-2010 season is the 85th season of the Bruins in the NHL. On July 15th 2009, the NHL announced that the Bruins will play against the Philadelphia Flyers on New Year's Day in the 2010 NHL Winter Classic at the Fenway Park. Of course, it's a game you simply cannot afford to miss. So visit a reputed, online ticket broker right now and purchase your tickets as soon as possible. The earlier you get your tickets; the better will be your seating choices. Your ticket broker may also have the Boston Bruins tickets delivered to you free of charge.
