Back in 1812, this area was involved in the War of 1812. Since then, it has become a graceful place to visit with pristine waters that create a magical sound as they crest and plummet to the pool below them.

The American Falls

The American Falls are located in New York. They are part of the oldest state park, the Niagara Falls State Park. Once the sun disappears and the night sky enters the scene, colored lights create a magical transformation of the waters of Niagara Falls. The Maid of the Mist

Although visitors no longer have that option, they can enjoy a delightful, misty boat ride. The Maid of the Mist boat rides are offered daily for a small fee. The experience is exhilarating as the boat nears the falls and the spray from the falls completely engulfs each boat and its guests in a thin mist. Colorful plastic raincoats are given out to each guest for a bit of protection against the cold spray.

Niagara Falls Tours

Tours behind the falls are available on a daily basis. A small fee is charged, but it is worth the price to get an up close look at the falls from behind safety glass. A variety of tours are available for touring the beauty of this area including helicopter tours, bus tours, boat tours, and walking tours. The Cave of the Winds tour is one of the popular walking tours. It takes its participants right up to the base of Niagara Falls at the Bridal Veil Falls area.

Visitors to the Niagara Falls have an assortment of nearby attractions that they can enjoy. On the American side, visitors can enjoy dining at the Top of the Falls Restaurant. On the Canadian side, visitors can take a trip to the top of the Skylon Tower where they can also enjoy a meal. Visitors also have the option to head on over to Marineland or the Butterfly Conservatory. For a different taste of entertainment, adults over the age of eighteen can visit the Fallsview Casino.
