Fillers are generally placed on the wider part of the V groove to offer firmness to the weld. With respect to a double V groove, both the bottom and top of every object is chamfered. Filler is placed on both sides and heated in different patterns to accomplish the safest weld possible. This double V-shape is mainly meant for extra density or large pieces.
