Choosing the most beautiful wedding invitations is the same with shopping for your wedding dress. This is a process which requires careful scrutiny of styles and considering the different choices before you make your final destination. While most brides have an idea of what their wedding dress will look like before they shop for one, they usually don’t have any idea where to start as far as innovative wedding invitations are concerned.
Whether you go for royal wedding card designs or scroll wedding cards, there are several do’s and don’ts you have to keep in mind to ensure that you make the right decision.
Do’s
Do list the name of the bride first.
Etiquette states that the name of the bride must appear first in wedding invitation wording. While you can choose to deviate from the rule, it is nicer to just stick with the tradition.
Do observe consistency with wording.
If you want to use formal wording for your designer wedding invites, make sure you observe consistency in all pieces of the stationery.
Do include the kids.
For ceremonies with blended families, it is encouraged ...
... to use wedding invitation wording which incorporates the kids.
Do pick invitation colors matching your wedding colors.
When the design is not available in the colors for your wedding, the wording on majority of wedding invitations can always be customized to suit your particular color choices.
Do opt for online RSVPs.
It is perfectly acceptable to go for online RSVP service. If you are worried about an older generation, you may include a phone number for them to contact you. Moreover, feel free to use both an online RSVP service and response cards.
Don’ts
Don’t list “no children” on your invitation.
Address your inner envelopes to include the name of every person invited. This will tell your wedding guests who’s invited exactly. You may also pick limited seats wording for your response cards.
Don’t mention post- or pre-wedding events.
Post-and pre-wedding events must not be mentioned on your wedding invitation. The information about rehearsal dinner may be communicated by word of mouth or you may send rehearsal dinner invitations. For all your day-after events including gift openings and brunches, try including a separate card for information along with your invitation.
Don’t use a lot of fonts.
It is recommended to use a script font as an accent lettering style and a single block font as your primary lettering style. This ensures that your wedding details are readable.
Don’t forget verifying addresses in the Google Maps.
Your phones never get you to the correct location always. Therefore, it is advisable to check the addresses in the MapQuest and Google Maps to verify that results are accurate. Once they are not, you’ll have to include map cards with wedding invitations ensemble.
Don’t skip to order additional envelopes and invitations.
You’ll more than likely require more envelopes and invitations than you think. Chances are, you’ll forget to invite some people and you might make mistakes while addressing envelopes. The cost to order extra is less than placing new orders.
