According to National Horticulture Database during 2014-2015, India produced 189.478 million metric tonnes of vegetables. The area under cultivation of vegetables was at 9.542 million hectares. A survey reveals that India exported fruits and vegetables worth Rs.8,391.41 crores during 2015-16 out of which the vegetable was worth Rs.4,866.91crores. India exports vegetables to countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, UAE, UK, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Qatar, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Netherland.
