Tadiyandamol Peak
Tadiyandamol is one of the highest and famous peak in Coorg as well as in Karnataka. The name Thadiyandamol literally means Tallest Mount. With gentle, velvety green slopes, Tadiyandamol is an ideal destination for those looking for an easy going trek. Situated at an altitude of 5735 feet, the peak offers a challenging terrain to cover with some breathtaking views.
It is a 15 km trek, takes you through the vast expanse of the Shola forests, endless lush green grasslands and streams. The Peak can be approached from the Nalakand forest which is at the base of the hill. There are ample spots to set up camps with tents. The sunrise from Tadiyandamol is a sight to behold, so do not forget to pack in your camera too. The trek to the top and back can be completed as a day hike.
Brahmagiri Trek
Brahmagiri is one of the popular places of trekking in Coorg. Lies at an altitude of 5,276 feet, the peak offers stunning views of the evergreen and semi-evergreen forest, shola patches and open grasslands of the Brahmagiri ...
... Wildlife Sanctuary. Permission is required from Forest Range Officer to trek Brahmagiri Hills.
There are two routes to trek Brahmagiri Hills, One is from Thirunelli and other from Srimangala which is of 10 km distance. Camping is allowed only at Narimala Forest Camp which is on the mid-way to Brahmagiri Peak. The first part of the trek from Irupu to Narimala runs through thick forest & some grasslands and relatively moderate. Then from Narimala to Brahmagiri Peak, is mostly through grasslands & steep mountains and is little tough. One can trek the hill and return on the same day if the permission, guide and other arrangements are made in advance. The time required for round trek is around 7-8 hours.
Pushpagiri Trek
Pushpagiri Hills is one of the best places for trekking in Coorg and among the top Karnataka trekking places. Located at an altitude of 5626 feet in the Western Ghats, Pushpagiri is one of the highest peaks in Coorg after Tadiyandamol. The Harangi River originates from the top of the hill.
The trekking starts from the forest check post at the base of Pushpagiri Hills (after Heggadamane). Prior permission is required from the Forest officials at the check post for trekking. The peak is about 7 km from the check post passes through thick forest, wet grasslands & rocky terrain. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach the peak.
Kotebetta Trek
Kotebetta is an awesome place for trekking and a perfect weekend adventure gateway situated in Kodagu district of Karnataka. At a height of 1620 m above sea level, Kotebetta is one of the highest mountains in Coorg after Tadiyandamol and Pushpagiri mountains.
The trek starting point is a junction nearby bridge called Hattihole. The peak is at a distance of 10 km from Hattihole. With blissful breeze, clear blue sky, pure and refreshing air, Kotebetta trek provides scenic views of nature and some refreshing hiking moments. The initial walk was on the tar road with Hattihole River on left side. There is a small Temple at the top and a pond which has potable water. The trek trail passes through lot of coffee estates and it takes around 2-3 hours for one way trek.
Galibeedu Trek
Galibeedu is one of the lesser known weekend treks around Bangalore located in the Kodagu district of Karnataka. One can experience the blissful of coorg lifestyle along with experiencing the delightful beauty of the Western Ghats during Galibeedu trek.
It is a one day trekking destination, total trekking trail of 14 km and the path is relatively easier and can be attempted by beginners. The first stretch until a couple of kilometers is narrow and gets steeper as you climb. The second stretch leads to a beautiful meadow with an absolute delightful view of the other peaks in the Western Ghats. The last stretch of the trail also gets steeper but the distance is very short hence, it makes the whole climb an amazing experience. It is one of the most scenic Coorg tourist places and also a famous picnic spot. The hanging bridge across the Chandramukhi River is also a cool attraction that is worth visiting during this trek. The time required is around 6 hours for a round trek.
