Erg Chebbi Dunes And Camel Riders In Morocco
An infinite sea of rose gold embankments zigzag their way across an area that distances 50km from north to south, varying manner as the sun upswings and decreases from warm pinks to vivid orange.
The sandbanks rise almost instantly from the edge of Merzouga village, one of the greatest available desert towns in the district touched by paved roads with a high-quality of traditional hotel housing proposing remarkable views of the dunes.
It's for this motive that the dunes of Erg Chebbi are the most stayed part of the Moroccan Sahara and get demanding with people during highest tourist periods. The dunes around Merzouga crowning with the Grand Dune de Merzouga, unique from the others by an impenetrable thicket of tamarisk trees at its base.
Visit Erg Chigaga from Marrakech
It is conceivable to reach the dunes of Erg Chigaga in a lowest of 4 days return voyage from Marrakech though due to its site more time will be consumed traveling than if you were to visit Erg Chebbi and 5 days would allow a more pleasurable pace. Here's a small itinerary we would recommend:
Day 1 - Leave Marrakech and drive ...
... to either Ouarzazate or Agdz (5-6hr drive.
Day 2 - Drive from Ouarzazate/Agdz to M'hamid (4-6hr drive). 1hr camel hike to the desert camp located between the lighter dunes. Take a 4x4 return expedition to the greater dunes.
Day 3 - Leave the Sahara and return via the Draa Gorge to Ouarzazate or Ait Benhaddou (5-6hr drive). Overnight Ouarzazate or Ait Benhaddou.
Day 4 - Coming back to Marrakech via the High Atlas mountains (4-5hr drive).
Sleeping in the Sahara
To truthfully experience the great Sahara desert we endorse spending a night in a warm desert camp enthused by Berber civilizations. The average campsites incline to be positioned further out in the desert with the adjacent villages out of vision, often stretched by an hour's camel hike which only enhances to your desert great experience. The colorful shelters are inclined in a four-sided preparation opposite into a central shared part of carpets, chairs and low tables where visitors will feast in the evening and for mealtime.
For perceptive travelers, luxury camps proposal a more contented desert experience with superior tents with immovable beds, flushing toilets and seriatim water, rugs, and lamps. The luxury campsites tend to be earlier and closer to the desert towns as the advanced standard of amenities requires access to power and water provisions. Many such campsites are an informal walk from Merzouga and M'hamid village but visitors can still opt to take a camel journey further out into the desert on an entrancing journey back to the campground.
Best time to visit the Sahara
The preeminent period to holiday the Moroccan great Western Sahara is in October and April when daylight temperatures are manageable, however, in December and January, night-time temperatures can plunge below cold so you'll want to travel with appropriate clothing.
To experience the otherworldly loveliness of the Sahara sand sandbanks without the troops, visit during the lowest months of November, January, and February.
Temperatures are predominantly fierce between June and August and consequently not perfect for the aging or the very young still. During the altitude of summer, Moroccans come to Erg Chebbi to be buried neck-deep in the hot sand for a few minutes at a time. It's presumed that the power of the sands is a cure for rheumatism in Morocco Holidays.
The dunes are remarkable at any time of day but the most imposing first thing in the morning with the increasing sun in the morning and last afternoon as the sun starts to set and the sands glow with changing color in Cheap Morocco Holidays
