The History Of A Single Bed
The wealthiest Egyptian people slept on the beds made of expensive materials, such as ivory, silver or gold. Their beds were not in a horizontal position, as a single bed is positioned today. The headboard was much higher. The stands made of wood were used instead of pillows. As for the poor people, they slept on the podiums made of stone or plank. These podiums were covered with leaves or hay. There was also no such thing as a bedroom. People slept closer to the source of heat in winter and anywhere in the house in summer.
