Hypnosis is all in the mind. While some people can be hypnotized easily, there are those who can’t. If you want to achieve a desired goal, the hypnotist you get in touch with should be able to know when to move from one stage of hypnosis to the next.

To do that, they have to follow certain procedures and the first stage of hypnosis is preparation. Hypnotists don’t go around looking for people who want to by hypnotized. You look for them so they are just waiting for you to knock on the door and ask for their help.

Even before you knock on the doctor’s door, you are already working your way to the first stage of hypnosis called preparation which will get you ready for what is about to happen next.

Aside from preparing yourself mentally, the hypnotist will conduct an interview to find out what the problem is and what steps have you taken in the past. If they have practiced hypnosis for years, they can use their experience to develop a solution.

What makes hypnosis unique is the patient. A technique used for one patient will not always work for another and that is the challenging part of treating ...
... someone who has a problem.

If the hypnotist feels that this technique can work, this is the only time that the two of you will move on to the second stage called induction.

After the hypnotist makes sure you are comfortable, it is time to put you into focus and all your attention will be on the specialist. They can do this through fixed gazing or by telling you to close your eyes and listen to their voice.

The hypnotist can tell if you are hypnotized if you are able to sit or lie still for a long period of time without fidgeting. Another test is for the hypnotist to instruct the patient to move their arms and if they are unable to do so, then you are ready to go into the third stage known as the deepening.

Here, the hypnotist continues on with the trance making sure that patient is ready for the fourth and most critical stage of hypnosis known as circulation.

Circulation is so important because this is where the hypnotist will impart hypnotic suggestions to the subconscious of the patient. In some cases, the patient will not even remember what that word is and the only time it will come out is when it is triggered by a certain event.

It should be noted however that such a feat may not happen in one session and the change in behavior may happen after several days or even weeks. To make sure this sticks in the mind of the patient, they will have go back to the clinic for several sessions.

The end of a session is the fifth stage of hypnosis known as termination. The hypnotist may count backwards, tell you to open your eyes or clap their hands.

The amazing thing about hypnosis is that you don’t always have to fall into a deep sleep because it also works as you are able to hear everything that that hypnotist said while you were in a trance.

While your willpower to achieve your desired goal is effective to make hypnosis work, the same goes for the hypnotist because they must also have the same will power to change your behavior by knowing when to move from one stage to next of hypnosis.
