Christened the Aqua line, this Metro route will be connected to DMRC's main grid via the Blue line, through an interchange at Sector 52 Metro station on the Noida City Centre to Sector 62 corridor, which is being built simultaneously. A footbridge will take Aqua line passengers from its originating station at Sector 71 to the Sector 52 Blue line station. This ensures total connectivity to all the stations in Delhi as well as from Faridabad and Gurgaon to anywhere in Greater Noida. Noida Metro Rail Corp (NMRC) today said it has completed first phase of construction in record time on Noida-Greater Noida Metro Corridor and structural work of all 21 metro stations is expected to be completed by March 2017.

The Aqua line is also setting another benchmark — of being the most economical Metro project to be built in the country. Casting of concourse level slab has been done in a record time of 8 months which normally takes more than a year. The construction of Noida-Greater Noida Metro Corridor consisting of 30 km of viaduct & 21 Stations is in full swing. In line with this, the casting of concourse level slab at Sector-143 station has been started today; it said adding about 600 cubic meters RMC will be poured continuously for 24 hours. The structural work of this station is expected to be over by August 16. The casting of concourse level slab has been done in a record time of 8 months which normally takes more than a year in a Design and Built construction.

The first trial will be conducted on a 6km stretch from the metro depot to Knowledge Park in Greater Noida.

The trials on the corridor will be conducted in December this year and the link will be operational by April 2018. It is estimated to have a ridership of 1.2 lakh a day which will rise to 4 lakh by 2031. It has also started erecting overhead electrical lines, completing about 3 km in Greater Noida. About 2 km of rail tracks has also been laid. Structural work of all 21 stations, including platforms, has been completed in a record time of 20 months. The first trail runs will be launched from Greater Noida across 6km, from the Depot station to Knowledge Park.

Officials said that the civil work on the stretch has been completed including the laying of viaduct. Installation of the new signaling technology and Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) are being undertaken and should be completed in the two weeks.
