Ph.D. – Doctor of Philosophy Phases
Ph.D. is the highest academic degree which can be earned by anyone in his/her academic qualification. Ph.D. is an advanced degree in which an individual spent his/her 3-4 year on research on a particular original topic.
What involves in Ph.D. Program?
As we know Ph.D. is a pure research program itself while other postgraduate programs are different in nature.
Typically a Ph.D. degree involves:
1. Carrying out a survey in your field.
2. Conduct research on your topic and collect the possible results.
3. Make a Thesis on your topic so it can represent your conclusion of your research.
4. Write your Thesis and submit it.
5. Attend a viva on your topic to defend your research.
These steps can vary from university to university or subject to subject but the sequence remains the same for 3 years Ph.D.

First Year of Your Ph.D Program:
In 1st year, the beginning of Ph.D. is all about finding your capabilities as a researcher and get a solid grounding for your program.
You discuss with your Guide and plan your actions for your research of the Topic which u selected for Ph.D.
The first step is a literature review, with the guidance of your guide, you study about what you will research on and evaluating existing scholarship. This will help you to ensure that your research will be unique on that topic.
Second Year of Ph.D. Program:
In 2nd year, you will probably do most of your research. This will vary according to your field, but your main objective is collect results from your experiments, research, and surveys.
You will develop a thesis which represents your documentation on your Ph.D. research. You have to meet with your guide on a regular basis so he/she can check your reports, progress and provide feedback on your ideas and read your drafts on the topic.
This year is important for a researcher. You collect some important data and will develop insights of your own topic.
Third Year of Ph.D.:
This phase of your Ph.D. is known as a writing up phase. This is the final and last part of your doctorate, during this phase you collect your all results and reports and write it down in your thesis. In fact, some of the students take this final year and a year in which they write and finalize their thesis.
You are going to writing up your thesis and finalize your dissertation and submit it. Your guide will be much more involve with you in this phase. They will read and analyze your all reports and drafts and make sure that it is ready for submission or not.
Only your viva voce oral exam is left now. At this viva phase, a formal discussion, and defense about your thesis take place with at least one internal and external examiner. This phase is a normal assessment procedure for your Ph.D. program. Once you have passed this phase, you have done with your Ph.D. program.
