More than 1 million adults attend camp each year, looking to relive their childhood memories or experience a summertime tradition for the first time.

While kids’ camp attendance has declined, forcing many organisations to shutter their cabins and sell off their land, the number of camps for grown-ups has swelled faster than a mosquito bite, totaling 800 in all. That’s an estimated 10% increase a year over the past 10 years, according to The Wall Street Journal.

And when campfire s’mores and sing-alongs are mixed with “flip cup” tournaments and a bunch of singles cavorting to DJ music, the result is a rowdy sleepaway camp experience unlike the one you may remember from childhood.

I recently attended Club Getaway in Kent, Connecticut, which hosts more than 10,000 adult campers annually, to see what all the buzz is about.

At "Camp no Counsellors" you can play like a kid by day and party like a grown up by night.

If you ever watched classic American camp movies - like The Parent Trap and Meatballs - as a kid, you'll know just how fun it looked to spend a crazy summer out in the woods, ...
... swimming by day and getting up to mischief by night.

Now, you can actually make all your camp dreams come true with a trip to 'Camp No Counsellors'.

Put simply "Camp No Counsellors" is an all-inclusive sleepaway camp for adults where you can "Play like a kid" and "Party like a grown up."

The aim of the no-kids-allowed camp is to allow adults to leave the "stress" of the real world behind for one weekend, while also reconnecting with their inner child through water sports, arts 'n crafts and classic camp activities like Colour War and a Talent Show.

And when night falls, instead of sitting around the campfire singing Kumbaya, the camp transforms into an epic party complete with themed bashes and an open bar.

But there is a catch - you need to register to attend the camp. Only 200 "like-minded fun and friendly adults" are selected to attend camp each weekend, this according to the website, is to allow "adults to strengthen old relationships and build new genuine friendships off-line, as they did when they were kids."

Camps take place across the US, with venues in New York, LA, San Francisco, Miami, Boston, Nashville and more.
