Sports Figures Residing In Luxury Apartment Rentals In New York
If you are a sports fan, you are aware of the pressures that athletes in New York face on a daily basis to perform at the highest level. I've heard it said many times, if you have thin skin New York is not the place you want to play.
While some athletes who have been in New York for most of their careers call the city home, others that are newcomers to one of the cities sports franchises choose to live in the city during the season, and live elsewhere in the off season.
Everybody knows that Tom Brady and Derek Jeter have homes in New York. Tennis Star, Novak Djokovic, reportedly purchased two two-bedroom units in SoHo, and in December 2016, San Francsico 49ers Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick bought a 2 bedroom condo in a luxury apartment building in Tribeca.
What do athletes do if they get a mid-season trade to the Big Apple? Well, NY Mets right fielder, Jay Bruce, lived out of a suitcase in 6 different hotels when he came to NY last baseball season. As he tells the New York Post, “It turned into a two-month road trip. I refuse to have it as an excuse as to why I didn’t play well, but it definitely ...
... affected my routine”. This season, Bruce is living in a 3-bedroom luxury apartment rental in New York at Aalto57 in Midtown.
Aalto 57 is a new luxury apartment building at 1065 2nd Avenue, on the corner of 2nd Avenue and 57th Street. It is a 22 story residential building with an LEED Silver certificate. The kitchens in each of these luxury units have integrated appliances that are fully flush to the cabinets for seamless transitions. The building was developed by two well established New York firms, World Wide Group and Rose Associates. SOM Design Architect was responsible for the design of the building, and Mathews Nielsen was responsible for the landscape architecture.
Ironically, Rose Associates is the firm that is handling the building management at the new luxury tower at 225 East 39th Street called House39. Like Aalto 57, House39 holds a LEED Silver certification. Fisher Brothers is the developer of House39, Handel Architects did the design, and Rockwell Group handled the interior design and the amenity spaces.
