Fssai Notifies Standards For The Food Import

FSSAI, the country’s food supervisory body has come up with new rules for the import, labelling as well as packing of food products introduced in India, in order to stay away from the worries of low-quality products making their way in the Indian subcontinent. • If Designated officers (DO)/Authorized Officer (AO) has reasons to accept as true that the food importer has tried to import hazardous food, banned food or food from banned sources as is provided in the act either directly or indirectly.
• When the importer didn't follow the license, regulations or undertaking of planned end use.
• Suspension, annulment or cancellation of certificate of Import-Export Code granted by DGFT shall straightaway render the import license invalid and no more notice shall be served.
• Such cancellation because of suspension, cancellation or revocation of certificate shall be reconsidered and granted in seven days of a request being made by the importer, if such suspension has been withdrawn or set aside or a new certificate has been given out to the importer by the DGFT.

A Customs House Agent:

An importer should notify AO/DO about the facts of his Customs House Agent as well as the authority he has. Additionally, the importer should also update about change or removal of any authority regarding CHA inside 3 days of the change made. The application should provide that the Food importer as well as the CHA shall be jointly as well as separately accountable for any breaking of FSS Act as well as its Regulations. The format from appointing of the CHA covers the following particulars:

• Bill of entry no.
• Food item to be imported
• Name of the importer, his address as well as contact no.
• Customs House Agent’s license no.
• Country of source of consignment
• Name of the Customs House Agent

The application needs to be stamped with the signatures of the importer.
