All You Need To Know About Bar Bending Schedule Preparation!

Reinforced concrete is what that makes the engineering constructions so flexible and strong. Being very strong in resisting compressive stress, this reinforced concrete has very weak intention. Therefore to remain undamaged from these tensional stress, certain amount of steel is used with concrete. This can be in the form of simple bars or rods bend to structure a given schedule. But what is the right ratio to use this steel in your reinforcement drawings.
Well bar bending schedule is there to guide you with the right measurements to add steel in your concrete. Bar Bending Schedule known as “BBS” is a visual list explaining the location, mark, type, size, length and number, diametric details of each bar being used in a reinforcement drawing of a structure. And the process of listing down all such details is known as “scheduling”. Here it is known as “bar scheduling” as it refers to reinforcement bars.
What needs to be included in Bar Bending schedule?
A BBS is a tabular representation of all the needed particulars of bars including shape, length, mark, type and diameter. Basically a bar bending ...
... schedule table consist of:
Bar number/ Bar mark reference
Bar shape
Diameter
Spacing
Length of bar
Cutting length
Number of bars
All the information presented by this table must be accurate enough that it can be directly implemented at the drawings.
Keynotes to keep in mind while preparing a BBS!
In the construction of a building, information regarding bars must be listed floor by floor.
The bars must be grouped separately for each structural unit.
The cutting and bending details should be provided at separate A4 sheets instead of as a part of detailed reinforcement drawings.
Bars should be listed in the numerical form.
The form of bars that are going to be used must be in accordance of BS 8666.
Make Bar mark reference in a way that it should point to a class of bar characteristics. Additionally, this reference id gives labours and workers an idea of the type and number of bars needed to complete a work.
Who uses this bar bending schedule?
Detailer
Person who inspects the drawing.
Contractor who incharges the whole structural drawing.
Organizations responsible for fabricating the reinforcement.
Steel fixer
Workers and other inspectors.
The quantity surveyor.
The job of a quantity surveyor is estimating and costing operations of a project which requires a high level of precision. With the help of Bar Bending schedules guides him to consolidate required number of bars of each bar type.
So entirely, the purpose of Bar Bending schedule is to estimate the quantity of steel which is going to be used that directly refers how much cost is involved in the entire steel work.
Note: Unit cost of steel is charged by weight of steel purchased.
