Things To Know Before Getting Kitchen Cabinets Painted
We all have been there, in the dilemma zone. Whether to renovate one's kitchen from scratch or just a paint job will do. Only you can assess that.
In extreme cases of kitchen cabinet damage, complete renovation is required. But if you've just got your kitchen renovated last season and it's the way it looks that bothers you, go for a paint job.
Most kitchens undergo a heavy wear and tear due to regular reckless use. If there are kids at home, your kitchen cabinets will bear some growing up souvenirs in the form of carvings and much more. No doubt these are priceless memories, but your kitchen thinks otherwise. So click a picture of your old kitchen and get it ready for a makeover.
I have enumerated a few things to take care of before getting your kitchen cabinets repainted. From personal experience of course.
• Get it done by professionals.
It's important to get quotes from at least 2 to 3 contractors before finding the one to do the job. Be sure the one you are hiring is experienced and thorough professional.
Even though DIY looks promising and lucrative, you have to weigh all pros and ...
... cons. If you are doing it yourself, it'll take weeks to months. On the other hand, if you are getting someone to do it, work will get completed in a limited time frame so you can step in your improved and beautiful kitchen in no time. Also, it guarantees uniformly painted kitchen cabinets.
I took quotes from at least 3 contractors in Toronto and finalized on Woodbridge Kitchen. They are thorough professionals and did a wonderful job. Woodbridge Kitchen is going to be my first choice in entire Toronto when I'll go for complete renovation of my Kitchen as well.
• Colour Scheme.
Just like me, you might also get confused regarding which colour to go for. My contractor presented such a diverse colour palette to choose from that I forgot what I wanted initially. But you have to stick with the colour that first came to your mind. As far as choosing the right colour is concerned, here is a quick tip. Go with the one that complements your kitchen countertop. If your kitchen countertop is black granite, white or beige colour will look outstanding. And same is true vice versa as far as contrasting colour scheme is considered.
• Proper Supervision is needed.
You'll have to remove your kitchen articles especially from glass door cabinets. And even if your contractor is the best one to hire for the job, some supervision is always needed. Just see that breakable items are duly removed and appliances are properly covered. Floor should be properly sheathed with drop cloth to avoid paint spills.
Keep these points in mind and you'll be enthralled by the end results. Your kitchen is going to look so good you'll enjoy cooking even more.
