In Ayurveda, diabetes is referred to as Madhumeha which is derived from two words, namely, Madhu which means ‘Honey’ and Meha which means ‘Urine’. In fact, in Ayurveda, Diabetes is a disease that is not considered as a simple one, but, is regarded as a Maha Rog or considered as a Major disease. This is because if diabetes is not treated on time, this may result in severe complications in the body. These can be as dangerous as kidney damages, eye problems, joint problems, and may also lead to impotency.
Diabetes is considered as a Vataj Meha that means that it is a problem caused by aggravation of vata dosha in the body.
