The warring factions among different political parties, continued terrorists attacks, International restrictions made it really difficult for Afghanistan to survive with economic prosperity. There were and still are many issues that are afflicting the country. So in this political turmoil having a substantial job prospect is a far off dream. Fortunately, in recent times there have been some hopes and job analysts are seeing light in the tunnel of darkness with revived economic structure and fluctuating political stability. With the country’s slow but steady transition towards democratic stability, it is trying to leverage the huge job wealth accumulation potential by contributing to private sector led economic globalization. Certain programs have been initiated such as CAREC( Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation), RECCA ( Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan) to ensure large scale participation of Afghan Economic Ministries in International meetings.

With increased trade and investment as well as responding to global economic shocks & downturns in a positive way, Afghanistan’s ...
... competitive spirit to deal with other world powers is on the rise. The efforts to generate job & wealth can be better achieved if the government pays a little more heed to the technical know-how & financial resources of the business community via investing in the private sector. As we all know that this country is actually the focal point for an emerging regional network of trade routes & pipelines. It’s a trade hub that links the Indian subcontinent with Central Asia, the Middle East & China, regions that include some of the fastest growing economies in the world. There are many ways through which people now believe that they can rebuild their homeland. They take pride in going back to the era of the Silk Routes.

The labor force in Afghanistan is unevenly distributed dominated mainly by men.
The Afghan labor force is male-dominated, due to significantly lower female participation rates. It can be said that almost seven out of ten workers are men, signifying strong gender based bias in labor force participation. The data compiled in the year 2007-08 clearly mentions that nearly every man in the age group of 25- 50 years is economically active. On the other hand, approximately one out of every two women participates in the labor market. This gender differential in participation rates is seen to be strongest in the urban areas. The role of women in the Afghan labor market is peripheral. It’s quite disappointing to witness the fact that 46.5 percent of women participating in the labor market, only 25 percent are truly engaged in paid-employment that also exclusively in the informal sector.

In Kabul, the agriculture sector is the one that include the highest prevalence of low skilled labor, with majority of workers employed are illiterate or semi-literate without any access to any formal education. Similarly, low skill levels are noticed in some jobs (Kabul jobs) like the construction and in the residual ‘service’ sectors, which have been among the fastest growing sectors of employment. Some other crude facts related to the non farm sector are that it accounts for 32 percent of employment in rural areas and 91 percent in the cities. This accounts for 14 percent of total employment in urban areas. One interesting thing is that the distribution of employment pattern and the level of informality are intimately correlated with the characteristic norms of employment sectors. Differences across sectors in workforce education and gender composition are strongly correlated with the distribution of employment typologies. Another strange fact is that the unpaid domestic work is prevalent in agriculture and in the low skilled service sector, reflecting a higher concentration of female employment. However, casual labor is very popular in the mining and quarrying sectors including construction sector.

On the whole it is inferred that the growing agriculture sector lays the foundations for sustainable and inclusive growth in coming years. Over the past 10 years, if we look then it can be happily stated that the economic growth in Afghanistan has been mainly driven by the influx of international aid, which has in turn stimulated growth in service and construction sectors. jobs in Afghanistan prospects are great in the near future.
