Premier League Football Clubs!
The English Premier League is one of the most watched football leagues in the world consisting of twenty Premier League Football Clubs. The football season begins in August every year and stretches into May of the next year. The 20 clubs play every other team in the league twice (one at home and the other away) in a season thus playing 38 games per season and bringing the total number of matches in league to 380. The league is sponsored by Barclay's Bank, which is why the official name of the league includes the name of the bank. The matches are usually held during weekends with very few matches played in course of the week.
There have been 43 clubs in total that have participated in the English Premier League from the time of its founding in 1992. However, surprisingly only four clubs have managed to win the championship. Manchester United, Blackburn, Chelsea and Arsenal happen to be the four elite clubs. Manchester United is undoubtedly the most successful club in the history of the league having won the league for a total of 11 times. They are also the ...
... current league champions. Their manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has held on to his post since 1986 and is also accountable for bringing home 10 out of the 11 championship titles won by the team
Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are the only clubs that were a part of the league from the day of its inception until today. Teams who do not manage to make it to the top league are forced down to the second division league. At the end of every season, the bottom 4 clubs are relegated and demoted to the second division. Simultaneously, the top four clubs of the second division are promoted to the top league at the commencement of the consecutive season.
The success of Premier League Football clubs relies heavily on its huge fan base. The fan base of each of the 20 clubs is massive not just in the United Kingdom but all over the world. Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are hot favorites in many Asian countries like India and China. Each club receives a respectable amount of revenue by the sale of club merchandise. The players of each club and their fans share a great sense of respect and pride towards the game.
