Tasty & Healthy Cooking - Is There A Real Meeting Between These Two In Indian Cooking
India, the land of spices is widely recognized for its cuisine. Indian cuisine never fails to impress at any cost. However, there arises a question in most minds - is Indian cuisine healthy? Does the usage of oil to cook curries, deep fry vegetables and meat good for the health in the long run? Well, this blog is precisely going to explain how there’s a real meeting between tasty and healthy cooking in the art of Indian Cooking.
To be honest with you, though I recognized and valued the taste of Indian cuisine, a major part of my conscience always considered it extremely unhealthy! This was until I came across a book called “The Great Indian Diet” written by Indian actress, Shilpa Shetty. The book molded my thoughts completely chiding my interpretation of Indian food as an unhealthy cuisine! Today I completely agree that Indian cooking has a real meeting between tasty and healthy cooking!
Quoting a line from this amazing book -“Why run behind the west when we have the best?”, I am going to take you through on how tasty and healthy cooking can be combined in Indian cuisine.
For over the ...
... years, popular Indian chefs like Sanjeev Kapoor, Venkatesh Bhat etc. have been roping in amazing dishes that are a boon to taste. However, the list doesn’t just stop here. For example, some healthy recipes that have been consistently latent in Indian cuisine are:-
1. Fenugreek Sprouts Soup - Fenugreek seeds rich in minerals, essential vitamins like Vitamin B6, folic acid, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin A and C & phytonutrients. In fact, fenugreek seeds have been since vintage in traditional medicines as a remedy for indigestion, cough and bronchitis. This hot and fresh sprout soup can be served for dinner!
