The spot derived its name from an incident where Rama took Kala Roop to defeat the Rakshasas. The temple is built with black stones and it took 12 years to build the temple.

2) Sita Gumpha: The cave is situated near the five banyan tree in Panchavati. Sita used to pray to Lord Shiva inside this cave. It is also believed to be the place from where Ravana kidnapped Sita. The cave has the idol of Rama, Sita and Laxman.

5) Ramkund: Most important among all other places in Panchavati, Ramkund is believed to be the place where Lord Rama took bath. A dip in this Kund is considered pious as it washes the sins.
