So, you have a business, but now you need a way to get sales in. One of the most effective methods of promotion is handing out flyers to your target market.

First off you need a good design to get you started - having all the right elements in place is no easy task! a few tips are outlined below:

Don’t make the big title your company name - people don’t care what your called, they only want to know what you can do for them.
Include a promotion on your leaflet - something irresistible!
Include a ‘Call to action’. This will make sure that people know what you want them to do so they can take you up on your great offer.
Use bullet points instead of big chunks of text - make it obvious what the advantage to them is if they use you.
List your best advantage first, and your least last.
Use colours, Words, and shapes that will attract your market.

However, getting all these in can prove hard work. Its always best to get a professional graphic designer or printing firm with in-house graphic design team to do the work ...
... for you.

Once you have your design sorted out - find a printer who will print what you need - most will do promotions every now and again. However, beware, make sure the paper they use is ATLEAST 130gsm or the final printed leaflet will look bad. Some printers will do upto 300gsm, however this will dramatically increase the price. You should be able to get 5000 a6 flyers for around £75... Anything lower than this and it’s a bargain - grab it!

Once you have ordered the flyers - they should arrive in around 4-6 working days. Once you get your hands on them - ensure the quality is good before you distribute them as you don’t want people associating your brand with bad quality.

There are many ways to distribute flyers - however there are many bad ways! Think about who your target market is, and then imagine where would be best for them to see your advert. Local newspaper? The sun? The Scotland on Sunday? In there letterbox? On there car? You need to find the one that suits your target market best to ensure you get the best return on investment you can.
