Is Samsung Focusing On Foldable Technology For Futuristic Mobile Phones

Though Samsung mobile phones have taken the centre stage in the mobile phone market only during the last date, it dominance of the international market is without doubt. Every one of their release attracts attention and not without reasons. They are reputed to not only for their superior performance but also for quality and durability. Incidentally they were able to challenge the market leaders of their times successfully and build a brand loyalty that has many lessons for budding mobile phone makers from around the world.

The History of Samsung Mobile Phones

Samsung means three stars though you will not see in the design. The three stars were once prominently seen in their original logo. The current design first came to be used in 1993. Like all mobile phone of those years, the Samsung mobile phone was almost the size of a brick. Samsung’s mobile phones rose in popularity with the release of their flip phones that were so convenient to carry in a pocket.

1.Samsung mobile phones become smaller and more compact in 10 years in the past. For example, one of the runaway success Samsung A800 compared with the more recent Galaxy S3 is about 34% smaller in size. Samsung A800 was one of the most successful models to penetrate the Dutch market almost a decade before.

2.Samsung mobile phones get packed with Central Processing Units (CPU) that are extremely powerful compared to the benchmark Samsung A800 that was a runaway success in the European market. In perspective the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a processor that at least 53 times the punch of one of its flagship models of yesteryears.

3.Battery storage time goes up 527% at 790 hours stand-by time. This makes it possible for anyone to travel around the world with an S3 on train and still come back to the starting point, and with some power still left to take a call from a family member.

4.New models of Samsung phones hit the world market. Without exception, almost all phones become popular. Notable models include the compact flip phone with blue dual screen endowed with polyphonic ringtones; a novelty in those days. This was in the year 2002 and followed by T500 in 2003, more popularly nicknamed the Lady Phone. It became very popular in the Netherlands for its stylish looks and compactness. Then followed the D500 with a slide feature built with a 1.3 MP camera and a full colour screen to top it. It became a top seller in 2004.

5.From 2007 onwards, Samsung mobile phones began to get thinner; some exceptions though was there. In 2007 Samsung came into prominence for what was considered the thinnest phone ever at that time with the U600. The emphasis was on the camera and the gorgeous looks. It was better known as the ultra-thin phone.

6.Earlier in 2006 had come the Samsung i600 with Windows OS. It was 3G compatible and the market response was enormously favourable. Still earlier in 2005, Samsung introduced the D600 with an improvised camera over its predecessor. The selling point of the device was its sleek form factor. Sales figures for Samsung mobile phone far outstripped for any other models introduced earlier.

7.Samsung mobile phones undergo radical changes 2008 onwards at a rapid pace with the release of F480, a mobile phone with full-touch features, a 5MP camera and a contemporary design. In 2009 comes the Samsung Star, a phone that was first to call itself a smartphone. It sold 30 million pieces worldwide.

8.The debut of S series of mobile phones is a trend we cannot forget. It transformed the ways in which people started to use mobile phones. The first in the range, Galaxy S is history and is believed to have sold upward of 24 million pieces. It is considered the most
successful smartphone ever by any manufacturer around the world.

9.Samsung mobile phone crosses the 40 million barrier in sales with launch of S2 model. It is reputed to have a dual-core processor and works 2X times faster than any of its predecessor to date. Then came Galaxy Note 2, a tablet phone estimated to have sold approximately 20 million pieces.

Samsung’s domination of the mobile phone market is near total. Here are some Samsung mobile phones heading to achieve figures that could be stunning to hear. Though there is a foldable Samsung mobile phone already in the market, market watchers are unanimous that the future is foldable and Samsung is concentrating and improving the foldable technology. Predictions are that the next series of smartphones will have 4K Super AMOLED display with resolutions as high as 2160 X 3840. Dual rear facing cameras will become a reality but the screen sizes may not deviate much from the standard 5.5 or 5.7 inch limitations.
