SEO optimization of any WordPress blog is absolutely essential or necessary in case you want to have a healthy constant traffic coming your way. Only posting a nice blog isn’t enough you have to properly market it. True that most bloggers aren’t rich initially and the budget won’t be much hence its better to focus on SEO of the WordPress based blog.

We have discussed here several ways you can use to optimize and properly perform SEO of your WordPress based blog.

Here they are:

Article length and Keyword density: Articles are important but the problem rises when you ask how much should be the length of an article. True that bloggers like Seth Godin post only few lines of articles but to be initially successful you need to post at least 1000 to 1200 words of articles each into your blog post. A successful study by someone showed that 1000 to 2000 words articles are ranked higher in Google than lesser words articles.
Hence its important that you have an upper limit of 2000 words and a lower limit of 1000 words for your articles.

Of course keyword density is important. In case you have a focus ...
... keyword it will help you write the article in several variations of the keyword. Keyword exact density should be repeated not more than 3 times in every 100 words that means a density of not more than 2-3%

Thus one should not only take care of the article length but also the keyword density is equally important.

Proper Meta tags: Meta tags are very important. It helps search engines identify quickly and categorize what the article is all about. It talks about description of the entire article in meta description. Similarly focus keyword will tell the keyword is properly placed or not. Hence meta tags are important and very important part of blogging and SEO. They should never be ignored.

Permalink Structure: Permalink structure is important because that would mean you have search engine friendly URLs like content/WordPress-themes and not 16/p?=31 something of this sort.
Permalink structure removes codes from URLs of the websites and makes them easily recognizable URL structure.

SSL: SSL is important as Google has given some points to SSL and security of any website and hence a blog if it is SSL friendly will garner more visitors than the rest. SSL can also be taken via letsencrypt who provide them for free. Search for hosts which allow such SSLs and you can have it for free or else get a cheap Comodo SSL for only few dollars per year.

Image Optimization: Image optimization like compression so that it loads properly and is web friendly otherwise your site will appear and load very slowly. Also alt tags and proper names of the files should also be written so that search engines recognize them for those keywords and you get search from images as well and visits due to image search as well.

XML Sitemap: XML sitemap is very essential for webmasters of search engines and hence a proper plugin to generate XML sitemap should be used and included in your blog which updates sitemap from time to time.

Breadcrumbs: Breadcrumbs link each category to post, page to child pages etc and hence breadcrumbs are important for interlinking and hence have a great SEO benefit as well in terms of site links.

Author Bio: Author bio is important because if a guest blog is written and if the author is a famous author then more trust is given to your blog article and visitors are also excited about that fact and interact more on that post.

Sidebar Newsletter: Sidebar newsletter is crucial to get more and more subscribers so that you can send them updates about your blog and get instant traffic back. Sometimes you can also get more sales and ads on your website using subscribers.

Social sharing buttons: Social sharing buttons is necessary to make your blog go viral and get maximum shares, likes and comments and hence social sharing has been time and again considered important.

Related Posts: Related posts are effective when you want your customers to stay glued to your site and many times if the current article isn’t interesting a related post helps customers stay back into your website for a long time.

Interlinking of posts or pages: Interlinking is done using links within actual posts which might be like quoting or writing about some plugin which has to do with themes but if you have written an article about themes you can link that to that article of yours. So this increases crawl rate of your pages on your blog via search engines and all your articles get easily found out.

Comments: The ultimate tool to interact more and more with your customers and get their attention and have a healthy conversation.

Conclusion: WordPress themes for free are available in abundance but do check WordPress repository for better tested and checked free ones which give you properly coded and tested blog themes and compatibility with the plugins discussed above.
