If you prefer, visit your local music store and ask there. Lessons are not usually expensive and many instructors have drum that you can use. This saves you having to buy your own before you try them.
When looking for a teacher, remember that there are many different styles of playing. Pick the style you want, whether that is traditional tribal or the rock star kit. This will help to avoid any confusion at a later date.
Having Fun
The most important thing to remember is that the instruments are there to help you have fun. You should take your lessons seriously but remember, you don't become a rock star overnight.
