There are many different kinds of techniques available right now which can be applied in the procedure of hair transplantation. Normally all the steps are same except the process in which the hair follicles are extracted from the donor scalp. There are two popular procedures to accomplish this step.
Strip extraction
In this procedure the hair follicles are harvested by means of the removal of hair strip from the donor part. The donor may be the same person from whom the hair follicles are extracted from any other part of the body or these can be obtained from any other person. In these cases the compatibility issues may arise which can lead to tissue rejection and severe allergic reaction.
Follicular unit extraction
In the techniques of FUE, the follicles are extracted from the donor scalp in the form of smaller units and not in the form of whole strip or piece of skin. In this procedure the hair follicles are selected form the part of skin which shows a good hair growth. After that hair follicle extraction is carried in the form of units each containing a minimum of 1 and maximum of 4 hair fibers. After that the extracted hair follicles are saved and then their grafting is done by the normal procedure of transplant fue technique.
