The pump is designed to allow for reverse flow by simply changing the shaft direction. The suction becomes the dis-

charge and vice versa, all without any modifications to the pump.
As the pump rotates, the intermeshing of the two screws along with the pump housing form chambers. These chambers fill with

the pumped fluid and move it from the suction side of the pump to the higher pressure discharge side of the pump.

While pumping there is no metal-to-metal contact within the pump housing. This allows good pumping performance even

with non-lubricating and corrosive and contaminated fluids.

They are commonly used for
machinery lubrication
hydraulic elevators
fuel oil transport and burner service
powering hydraulic machinery
They are also used in refinery processes for high temperature viscous products such as asphalt, vacuum tower bottoms and

residual fuel oils.

Three screw pumps also find extensive use in crude oil pipeline service as well as gathering, boosting and loading

of barges and ships. They are common ...
... in engine rooms on most of the world's commercial marine vessels and many combat ships.

The term ‘screw pump’ is often used generically. However, this generalization can be a pitfall as it fails to recognize the

different product or ‘screw’ configurations, as well as the uses, advantages and design considerations for each. The design

differences of each screw configuration and pump type make each suitable for different applications and handling fluids with

varying characteristics.
Each ‘screw pump’ operates on the same basic principle of a screw turning to isolate a volume of fluid and convey it.

However, the mechanical design of each is different. The primary difference in one, two, three or multiple screw pumps.

Work Features:

It has wide application. It could transfer all flowing medium and non-running material.
It has steady flow and pressure,no pulsation .
Change the speed,so the output flow be modified. It could be used in measuring input.
It has strong inhale power , low working noise,no leak and temperature rising.

Problem and maintenances required on Screw pumps:

Generally we have very less problems associated with thispump but yes some problems occur. To make things simpler, let's

discuss the problems which may occur on this pump.

1.The clearances between the screws increases, which results in a decrease in pressure.
2.Bearings may wear out.
3.The relief valve does not function properly.
