Many Factors Influence A Coder's Pay Package

There are many factors that influence the salary of a medical coder. Owing to all the personal decisions and outside factors that shape your compensation, it's tough to predict what your medical coding salary will be. The average salary of a medical coder differs based upon state, certification, education, organizations, city and other factors.
Medical coders are mostly hired through hospitals, insurance companies, pharmacies and doctor's offices. A health care office with many patients can provide a more lucrative starting salary as compared to a small doctor's office. Coders usually work in an office setting and are paid some kind of fixed salary. However they can be contracted out to work from home too.
The salary of a coder is influenced by geographical area of work as well. Coders in big cities tend to earn more than their coders in smaller cities. In fact in areas where the cost of living is higher, medical coding salaries may be higher.
It is very difficult to estimate the average medical coding salary. A certified coder earns much more than non-certified counterparts. Your earning potential will ...
... also be determined by your education level and your experience. Since it pays to have a certification in hand, every coder should try to go for it. Not only will it help you accumulate knowledge and boost your career, but will also keep your cash registers ringing.
If you want to get more information on what you can expect in a medical coding salary, there are several resources that will give you a more in-depth report based on your personal data.
