Online jobs have been an alternative to traditional jobs. Those who were once unemployed are now considered gainfully employed and those who were once unproductive are now productive. In one way or another, jobs online has boosted the morale of many Filipinos who have found and built a career online. Online jobs have given thousands of people who were once unemployed the honor and pride of having a job, right in their own home and convenience. Even others, who are already profitably employed, still do online jobs to augment their income.

Every year, thousands and thousands of students graduate. And every year thousands of these graduate students end up jobless, adding up to the already high unemployment rate in the Philippines. The reason is due to limited number of job vacancies that match the graduates' bachelor's degrees. No one has to remain idle for long and wait up in vain. If fairly competitive, there are more possibilities of landing a job online than in traditional jobs. There is a wide array of jobs to choose from: article writing, personal assistant, web development, software development, tutorials, web researches, sales marketing, etc. Depending on your interests and of course, capabilities, you can choose to have two or more jobs simultaneously.
Meanwhile, interviews online are also different form traditional interviews. For most applicants, interviews are always a big day and requires great preparation, i.e. you must be physically presentable during live interviews- you must be well groomed. Some really bothers looking for the proper attire to wear and rush to the salon to look good. But the most stressing and scary part of the interview is the interview itself—the Q and A portion. Sometimes, even if how many times you have rehearsed your piece, when faced with your interviewer, you tremble and you experience black out because of too much nervousness, especially if your interviewer is not that pleasant. The good thing on online interview is you can do away with all this preparations. All you have to do is ensure a good internet access and create an account in IM, and instantly, with a single click, you can have the interview with your virtual employer, right in the convenience of your very own home, without grooming yourself, without worrying if the interviewer is approachable or not.

In earlier times, married women would find it hard building a career outside their home for fear of neglecting their children, fear of having no quality time with the family. But now things and perspective have changed where mothers can finally earn money and at the same time look after their kids. Online jobs are most advantageous for single parents who do not enjoy the support of their spouse and who can't afford to get a nanny for their kids. They can stay at home earning while at the same time, watch over the kids.

The environment of online job is entirely different from traditional ones. In online jobs, the employer and employee can work together even with different time zones. One can work even without physically meeting with the employer. Strange as it is, but that's how online jobs are. You don't see your employer and vice versa; no nosy co-workers to interrupt you and invite you for coffee breaks; no prying and demanding boss to always check on your work, and no telephone calls from time to time. The same is also true for online employers. They do not have to go through the hassle of payroll accounts and checks, no daily time records to monitor and performance evaluation to make.

Truly, online jobs have become an alternative to traditional jobs especially for those whose luck and fate is not with traditional jobs. But I just want to remind the readers that making money online does not apply to everyone. You have to be competitive and skilled. Just like traditional jobs, making money through online jobs is also not that easy. You have to be patient until your skill is spotted by the employer.
