A Look At The Four Basic Types Of Jib Cranes
Jib cranes are of four basic types - free standing, wall mounted, wall bracket and mast style depending on weight-lifting capacity ranging from 100 pounds to 5 tons. Basically designed as floor mounted cranes, these cranes can be attached to the slide of machines and a wall as well. The four types of cranes are used for different purposes and in different environments. Some jib crane types are mobile cranes.
Free-standing Jib Cranes
A free-standing jib crane needs no support to keep it upright while standing on the floor. It comes with a foundation base to remain stable. The height and base of the foundation depends largely on the load. The advantage that this jib crane type offers over other jib crane types is that it does not require a wall or a solid structure to support itself. Moreover, it offers a maximum of span and coverage.
Wall Mounted Jib Cranes
As the name 'wall mounted' suggests, this type of jib crane can be affixed onto the wall. It provides optimal lift when it is fitted ...
... close to the underneath of roofs. A little headroom is its requirement. The coverage of a wall-mounted jib crane is like that of other crane types. It is circular in shape with a dimension of 20 feet. It is an efficient tool to move material when the floor surface is chock-a-block with other things.
Wall Bracket Jib Cranes
Similar to a wall mounted jib crane in structure, this type of jib crane comes with a bracket. This highly economical tool provides maximum hoist coverage for efficient use at factories and warehouses. The installation requirement for a wall bracket jib crane is the same as that for a wall mounted crane. It swings loads all around despite obstacles and obstructions on the floor surface.
Mast Style Jib Cranes
A mast style jib crane is almost akin to a free-standing type of jib crane. The only difference between the two is that the former requires no special foundation to support itself. It makes the crane more economical in use. But it needs to be mounted at the top and bottom. It provides rotation to a 360 degree with a max of lift. It is one of the efficient mobile cranes.
