With hundreds of local restaurants, architecturally history buildings, and scenery that continuously draws people out of the city, Turkey leaves tourists wishing to extend their vacation time to explore the rich diversity this unique country has to offer.

The history alone is enough to draw anyone out to Turkey to visit the ancient Terrace House, Ephesus Theater, and Celsius library in Seljuk. Seljuk offers a window into the past with well-preserved intricate designs on building walls, pillars still reaching skyward, and ancient thermal baths. Here, it’s easy to imagine merchants heckling men on horseback, and chariots passing through town centuries ago.

To get out of the city is easy enough with a day tour to Göreme National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Göreme, a rock-city formed through erosion, encapsulates a town dating back to the fourth century BC. Throughout the park there are dwellings and churches formed into the rock and decorative paintings that have been preserved for hundreds of years.

Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul, boasts enough attractions to warrant a month’s stay. ...
... Mosque’s, palaces, and churches scatter the city and are close enough to make a walking tour possible. The Hagia Sophia is a must see; before St. Peter’s Basilica was built in 1506, Hagia Sophia was the largest church in the world. To date the building is overwhelming both in size and in its impressive architecture and works of art contained within.
