They say that the best time for kids to learn is when they are really young and they also say that the best lighting condition is very important for continuous learning. But sadly, your usual yellow and white lights are definitely not going to be conducive or fun enough for your kids to spend some time in their room and keep looking into their books. For the very first theme lighting, you would have to be well versed with what kind of a cartoon character or action hero your kids are more inclined towards. Now you would have to ensure that most of the lamps that are in their room, sports these characters and that they are wanting to be in that room for the simple fact that their favorite cartoon character or action hero is with them. ...
... It is best that you remove all your grandmother's boring lamp shades from their room and make it funkier. You would have to add color to their rooms. It is also best if you could fix these lamps with white lights since they consume less electricity and also illuminate the room better.

As for your second theme lighting idea, you would have to get a lot of colored semi-transparent papers or drawing papers. Now you would have to cut these papers into fun shapes like stars, moon or anything else that seems fun to you. Next you would have to join these little cut outs together and place a whole in the middle to get the holder and the light bulb into it. You could wither put them all together on a circular disc or string them together. Make sure that you use really less voltage for the bulbs so you could use this particular idea as a night lamp for your kids. If this idea is being used as a night lamp, then make certain that you avoid red as a choice of colors. It is proven that when you use red lighting ass a night lamp, children are prone to having nightmares and suffer from lack of sleep. The best choice of color for this lighting would be blue or cream.

One would be to make the room more conducive for your kids to study better and spend more time in. and the other to ensure that they get the best sleep possible.
