Has the idea of counting cards ever appealed to you? Perhaps you truly want to learn but you think you're not smart enough. Guess what, you can learn anything you want, and counting cards is no different. This article will teach you the basics, and when you are ready to learn more, there are better resource out there that will move you beyond this.

The system that many people will tend to use is the high-low system. It's pretty easy to understand, though you should know that this does not involve knowing the number of cards. It is just the ratio of high cards to low cards in the deck that you are playing with. Okay, so maybe that doesn't make much sense yet, but it will.

Assigning Values

Essentially, each and every card has it's own point value. Low cards are 2,3,4,5, and 6. Such cards will be assigned a plus one value, while the high cards, 10, jack, queen, king, and ace will have a minus value. Neutral cards will be 7, 9, and 9.

To start out with, memorize the value of all the cards. Recite those values and commit them to memory. Remember that you must be able to do this perfectly

Keep ...
... the Running Count

After you believe you've finished the memorization, you will need to keep a running count. By doing this you will be ready for an actual game.

To start out, the running count should be zero, but should be increased as cards are flipped over. The count will then depend on which cards are flipped over.

It's not going to be easy, and in fact you will need to do some practicing. You will need to memorize every single value, and you will need to perfect your method of keeping a running count. Be able to do it without hesitating.

True Count

When it comes down to it, you'll need to use a true count. This is where you will take the running number and divide it by the number of remaining cards. This is the true count, and following it will tell you exactly how you will want to bet online.

With a positive true count, the solution will be to bet more, but a negative tells you not to bet as much. You should only bet when the chance of winning is good. Doing this will raise your odds and help you to win more than you lose.
