A Pc Technician Should Train The Computer User

A PC technician is considered the fairy godmother of a PC, and is expected to materialize the moment there is some problem with the machine. More often than not, he does materialize, and attends to all the PC repairs that are necessary to rectify the problem. The problems, which make the computer owner panicky, may be hard disk failure, data loss, monitor or network problem, or a non-responsive keyboard or mouse or program.

A PC technician is trained to handle all these problems. But, there is another aspect of PC repairs regimen that is not technically part of his job. It is training the computer owner. It will help him and the user a lot if the technician can train the other in maintaining the computer the right way and in handling minor repairs.

When the user's computer knowledge is better, the attending PC technician will be able to handle the repair by guidance through a phone, or a chat room, or other indirect methods. Disk cleaning, defragmenting, deleting unwanted files, cleaning up the desktop and startup menu, are routine things that a user can do to increase disk space and ensure optimum computer performance. If the user is not familiar with these, the PC technician should show him the options the first time he is called for PC repairs. If a computer is not at its optimum performance even after these clean up jobs are done routinely, it could be that there is insufficient disk space to accommodate the programs that are being used. Or sometimes the problem could be with the registry.

Increasing disk space by computer upgradation, or by replacing the existing monitor or graphic card, will have to be handled by a PC technician. As far as registry cleaning is concerned, a technician should ideally handle manual cleaning of the registry only as it will require some in-depth knowledge of the files contained in the registry.

But registry problems can be solved with the help of registry cleaning software also. This is something that many users will be able to do themselves as far as the software is user friendly. A PC technician will be able to guide a computer owner in selecting the type of software that allows easy handling. Besides, centers that handle PC repairs will have different registry cleaning software, which can be hired and used by the owner under the guidance of the PC technician.

By being the trainer of the user, a PC technician will be helping himself, the user, and the computer.
