SFA organised an 8-day Sports Extravaganza for school kids from December 24th to 31st, 2015 at the D. Y. Patil Sports Stadium, Nerul. The D. Y. Patil Stadium was founded by Vijay Patil who embarked on an ambitious project to build a sports academy not just for the love of cricket, but also other sports. The D. Y. Patil Sports Academy has several world-class sporting facilities like: 3 Badminton Courts, 6 Table Tennis Tables, 1 Handball Court, 1 Basketball Court, 1 Football Arena, 4 Tennis Courts, 3 Squash Courts, 1 Volleyball Court, 1 Olympic size Swimming Pool and 1 Judo Arena.
Sports for students are entering a new venture under a revolutionary idea. With the inception of Sports For All (SFA), India’s premier inter-school sporting system, games for students is set to get a more professional structure which would help in identifying and nurturing sportspersons from the grass-root level. SFA through its initiative will integrate state-of-the-art infrastructure and administration to the millions of potential future champions in schools for student games.
Through this venture, ...
... SFA aims to bring together students, their parents, coaches, sports academies, talent scouts, physiotherapists and other sporting personalities under one roof where aspirant sportsmen competed in 9 different Olympic sports (Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Swimming, Squash, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis and Judo) which was conducted and operated by premier administrative bodies of those respective sports guided by coaches and video feed that would be stored for future reference, talent identification and improvement. Indian cricketer, ODI record holder and Captain of the Mumbai Indians franchise, Rohit Sharma was the brand ambassador for the event.
SFA aims to bring a major change in sports for students by introducing world-class facilities for students games by providing then with all the amenities which are there in every international students games. The games for students will be held under the aegis of some of the top sporting federations which will give student games a platform and exposure to compete in national and international stages.
SFA included both indoor and outdoor sports for students, which are also played in the Olympics. This gave the schools an exposure of international level sporting event and ensured that the games for students benefit in both mental and physical aspects of development.
SFA is a platform for school children to participate and compete in multiple students games. The education that is imparted in our schools and colleges is mainly intellectual. It is true that every school and college has a playground and offers facilities for student games. But participation in games is not compulsory and little account is taken of it while awarding certificates and degrees. Our educationists should realise the organic connection between mind and body, and pay more attention and importance to the physical training of the young.
The mission of SFA is to revolutionize the landscape of school sports in Mumbai & eventually India by providing a robust, sustainable ecosystem for school children to participate, compete & grow in the field of sport. The vision of SFA is to be the most respected & reputed sporting system for school children in India and to build an inter-school sporting system that India can be proud of.
