SHARING is something that has been one of the many other ways that we show love and affection, especially during Christmas.

Regardless of whatever in excess of what we would want to share, the act of sharing no longer comes as a surprise to us, inasmuch as the practice in itself has evolved into an expression of how one feels towards another.

From the concept of extending anything in excess of whatever we may want to share comes the idea of offering something which doesn't form part what we have, which to laymen has very little distinction with that of the former.

What's in a Box?

Commonly called as a gift, the offering is an expression of giving oneself to another, inasmuch as that of whatever is extended to another connotes sharing of oneself to one or more of his likeness.

The practice has transcended in ages --- for who knows how long, by people, who don't necessarily have to be literally close. They could be two different individuals with conflicting beliefs, values and norms, or could be coming from two opposite sides insofar as nationality as well as their social and economic status ...
... is concerned.

Usually comes in as a wrapped package, gifts usually pull surprises to the delight of whoever is on the receiving end of the interaction. Since gifts are handed over as wrapped, it is safe to assume that the most common form of such an offering are tangible ones, materials that could either be of use of would somehow delight, fascinate, impress and take a recipient to a higher adrenalin of sorts.

Gifts may come in handy, expensive, something personal or sophisticated, depending on how one would assess the receiving end, in the same manner that it is most usual and normal at that for the recipient to at least show some appreciation to the effort and the thought.

Pandemic in December

Sending over these wrapped packages does not also prescribe any particular time, date, month of the year. Admittedly however, gift giving is a pandemic during the Yuletide season.

While gifts don't necessarily have to be given only on marked days and dates on the calendar, many practice gift giving only when they thought they should --- Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, Halloween and Valentine's Day.

In most cases, material presents inside a carefully crafted box wrapped in colourful papers that match the mood of the occasion, likewise come in as a very special one at that. In many cases, gifts are materials dole outs at cost.

The virtue of gift giving, which started way back who knows how long, has evolved through the times as generations after another generation, the content of the specially wrapped package is most likely material and expensive at that, if only to guarantee that the present which cost him some pennies, gets to be appreciated.

The Cost of Appreciation

It is frustrating to know however that the Gifts, which represent love and affection of one towards another, have become cost oriented. Gifts should not be weighed in as special and personal from the context of its price. Many of us are living on the wrong impression that gifts are considered special to the recipient given existing trade specifics, like the price.

With our clocks ticking faster than the usual, it won't come as a surprise that we too could receive colourfully wrapped package if only to show how dear we are from the person whose name appears on the holiday wrap as the one who would want to share something special in time for Christmas. GP
