The rain gods have already shown their power and it has been a year of irregular but heavy rains in Pune. Untimely rains along with recent festivities have played a havoc inside your houses and all you need right now is to get rid of those tiny, creepy termites and the inauspicious sight of a lizard.
Here are some quick-fix ways to get your house squeaky clean and free of pests before the arrival of the next festive season!
1. Reaching the untapped corners of the house.
Usually, we conveniently forget about some parts of the house which are prone to dust accumulation and cobwebs. The corners of your bedrooms, the drawers of your cupboard, the forgotten shelf in the living room are some of the places which you don’t clean regularly. It doesn’t take a lot of time for the dust to accumulate in those corners and hence inviting breeding of termites and their extended families.
This weekend, put your music system on bass and play your favorite songs while cleaning up the ignored little nooks of your house!
2. A cluttered storage room.
This is the place where you keep all the unused and old ...
... commodities of your house hoping to use it in the near future (which rarely comes). It is very commonly seen that people are negligent when it comes to the storage rooms of their houses. They let the utensils, damaged electronics and old clothes to rot and voila! This is the place where mice and other pests love to breed and start their happy family by laying eggs.
A clean storage room is of utmost importance to avoid the breeding of pests in your house. Statistics have shown that things in your house which have been lying unused for more than a year will probably never be used again. This calls for de-cluttering of the space by giving away the old and used articles of your house to the street vendors.
3. Dirty, overnight vessels.
Ditch the kaamwalibai for few days a week to clean your own dirty vessels after the sumptuous meals because the filth and the odour are the invitation for the nearby cockroaches to have a party in your kitchen sink in the dark when you are fast asleep. Cockroaches and other insects often prefer warmth, darkness and moisture and all this is easily available from your dirty vessels, sometimes left with leftovers.
Hence, it is necessary to clean the dirty, greasy utensils after every meal so that your house is free of unwanted guests!
4. Overgrown garden.
Ah! Who doesn’t love gardening? No doubt it gives us a tranquil and peaceful state of mind but the same garden can be a reason of nagging pests in your house. Upkeep of a garden can be a daunting task since you have to constantly clear off the weeds and water the plants and nourish them regularly with bio-degradable fertilizers. A moist, overgrown garden can be an easy target for accommodation of rodents which might take over your house giving you nightmares.
Regular cleaning of your garden by sweeping it, clearing off the weeds and watering the plants are few simple ways to take care of your garden. Also, it should be kept in mind that there should not be over-watering of the plants since it can lead to stagnant water inviting yet another party of houseflies!
5. Leftover food.
You will be surprised to know how often people leave the leftover food on the kitchen counter or the dining table after breakfast or dinner while hurrying up to go to work or go to sleep. Open food is nothing but an open invitation to all kinds of insects for a sumptuous meal on your well-furnished dining room. Peels of vegetables and fruits are often forgotten on the kitchen counter and even if they are dumped into the bin, the lid of the dustbin is often left open. It is important to keep such small points in mind to avoid the incoming of any types of pests in your house.
Always store the leftover food in the refrigerator or give it to the watch guard of your society. Always remember to keep the wet and dry garbage in different bins and never forget to leave the lids of the dustbins open, especially during night, the favorite time for pests to conquer over your house.
Above are the most common ways of how pests start to breed in your house and solution of the problem. But in case of failure of all the above methods, TellMee and we will always be there to help you!
