Vps Or Web Hosting? Which One Is Better Choice?
So, now you want to purchase paid space on web to host your site. But you are confused between Normal web hosting and VPS right? First of all let me tell you what exactly the main difference is between Web hosting and VPS.
1.Normal Web hosting
Normal web hosting is the space on the server on which you can host your site to make it available for world. But, In the case of normal web hosting, you will get some space on server on which the sites of others will also be hosted just like you.
For example, I have one server on which I host sites of 10 of my customers. In this case, customer is you. Your site will be hosted on the same server on which other customer's sites are hosted. I means that if someone's site will get higher traffic then your site may get slow because of high load on server. So, If you want 100% fast speed from server then normal web hosting might not satisfy your needs.
Moreover, In normal web hosting, you will not get access to config files of the server on which your site is hosted because it will affect other site also. This configs like php.ini and all other config files are handled ...
... by the server admin. They have hired server admins who will handle the server and will make it live as more as possible.
2. VPS
Well, VPS stands for Virtual private server. It means that you will have access to the whole server including root access. It means that you will get access to whole computer. You can do anything you want on the server like Re-installing the operating system as much as you want and also there will be many options to select from operating systems.
You will also get access to the config files and also you can reboot or shot down the server whenever you want. In this case, you will only have your sites on your server. It means that on whole server, if I have only 2 sites, No one is there to tell me that why you only have 2 sites on your server. I can do anything I want on the VPS which is not possible in web hosting. You will get dedicated IP when you will purcahse VPS.
Well, there are some limitations of web hosting too. I mean, You will only get terminal access for your server. You can do anything with it but just by using commands of whatever Operating system you are using. To get cPanel like web hosting, you have to pay 10-15$ extra monthly for cPanel licence.
PRICE:
price of the VPS is higher in comparison with Normal web hosting. VPS starts with 5$ too but there will be low config servers. In the case of web hosting, you can get it at only 2$ only. But your server will be used by many others.
So, if your site is not so heavy and doesn't get much traffic, Normal web hosting is better for you or if you have good knowledge of server and linux, VPS is also a good choice! I hope now you are out of confusion.
