An Interview To Know Many Situations In Japan

A delegation consisted of 30 university students went to visit Japan. They visited famous cities in Japan such as Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima and so on in several months. What impressed them deeply was that the Japanese are very efficient and pay more attention to detail. For Japan companies, they often try their best to satisfy the need of detail in people's lives. Here is an interview with one of the visitor, Rudy Cunningham.
Q: What about the traffic situation in Japan?
A: Japan is much smaller than our country but still have a large population, more than 100 million. So population density in Japan is heavy. But it is rare to see traffic jam because of sensible urban construction planning. There are many subways in Japan and they become people's first choice when shopping or tourism. Take the Tokyo for example, office area and leisure area are separated, people can run all government departments in office area just in the short time. When you want to go shopping, just go to shopping district by subways and you can purchase all the things you want.
Q: How is the environmental condition?
A: You know, the ...
... Japanese government encourages environmental protection. You would get 500 yen if you don't replace your towel in hotel. Besides, the Japanese seldom wash clothes at home because there are many washing machines with powerful function in almost every community. It's very convenient. By the way, there is no unpleasant smell in public toilet, once you go out, the old cleaner would clean the toilet.
Q: It is said that aging population problem in Japan is serious, is that true?
A: Yes! Many old men work in many positions. For example, all the cashiers in highway station are old men. They are very polite and have a rest every three hours.
Q: The Japanese get used to go for a drink after work, somebody said the reason is high pressure in Japan, is it?
A: Working overtime is very normal in Japan, go for a drink is an effective way to reduce stress, but they wouldn't spend too much time on drinking, the Japanese is very efficient.
Q: Tell me what impressed you most?
A: Japanese enterprises pay more attention to R & D. Every weekend, the future product mold will be displayed and seek public views on the product. The Japanese government also encourages R & D, the number of R & D funding from public expenditure is very huge.
