Hair care products will work effectively only when you maintain your locks post chemical treatment. You can use natural curlers which is most effective but a temporary solution. Although, it is temporary you can use them with out any side effects. There is no heat used, so you can avoid your locks from getting trapped under heat. You still maintain the health and strength of the follicles besides using a roller. Your locks are curly yet there is no damage to them.

In case of a hot roller, you must apply a good serum or hair protection agent before you expose your follicles to heat. Take adequate care to protect them post heat treatment. Enjoy your lovely curls and make them shine in good health. Use shampoos and conditioners meant for permed hair type. If you just want to add a little texture to the style you have, you can opt for perming. It makes your locks more pliable and will help it to hold whatever style you can dream of. Use a larger rod to reshape your curls into something more manageable. Petroleum cream is used on to your scalp in order to protect them from the chemical cream, if you are using a chemical agent ...
... to perm your locks.

Make use of small rollers if you really like that spiral look. Your mane must be damp, before using a curler or roller. If not you can try out immediately after you are out of a shower. This gives a dramatic effect and makes it look better, allow them to dry naturally. The hair then hardens up and retains its curly shape. Do not forget to use a styling gel before rolling up your hair in rollers. Take small sections at a time and roll them. If you want big loose curls use a bigger section if not make use of smaller section to get small rolls.

Try and treat them naturally!

There is a wide array of chemical products out there in the market that one can opt for but remember if you get your hair chemically treated you need deep conditioning every time you wash your hair. The cold wave was then introduced in the 1940s. The cold wave is basically what the modern perm treatment is today. Since the heat used in a cold wave can easily be regulated, the hair can now be curled closer to the scalp using this treatment.
