New Age Green Flooring- Tips And Tricks For A Successful Floor Screed
Wooden, vinyl, cement cum concrete flooring and what not? There are many techniques to lay the horizontal surface of any home or office space. But many of these attractive and beautifully looking floors do not offer the thermal conductivity as expected. Especially in cold countries, where the cold vibes enter one's body and break their bones, it is mandatory to check out for techniques that offer better thermal efficiency for the base. And answering this question is the liquid screed technology where anhydrous screed material is laid as base that offers the maximum thermal conductivity. There are few tips and tricks that one has to remember while laying the liquid screed that include:
Floor preparation
Preparing the floor is the first step while laying screeds so that breakages, holes and abrasions are filled beforehand. The base needs to be prepared and levelling compounds are poured on the final layer of the screed to achieve fine tolerances.
Insulation
One has to insulate the floor surface as this forms the intermediate layer between the floor base and the screed. Also rigid board panels or flexible ...
... insulation solves the levelling problems like sound binges etc. One has to assure that the entire perimeter is covered and external corners and internal corners are taped down and covered without gaps.
Pipe work prior to flooring
It is mandatory to check the pipe work of the under floor heating element before laying the screed. The pipes need to be well placed for the rooms to get even heating. Also the screed needs to be evenly spread so that there is no projection seen on the surface.
Application and drying
The screeding is applied uniformly without any lumps initially and levelled for achieving the required thickness. The most important tip at this juncture is to keep the thickness within 80 mm that will help in quick drying of the screed and also enhanced thermal conductivity
Levelling
The final step will be the levelling of the finished surface which is important for finer look and feel. The finer floor finishes includes fixing tiles, vinyl, carpet, wood or epoxy paints. While pouring the levelling substrate one must ensure it is free from dust, plastic droppings, grease, paint, polish or any other substance that can spoil the necessary bonding that the floor screed needs to have with the base. If anything is left unnoticed it will hamper the perfect look and finesse.
The flooring is completed by running a spike roller on the surface so that air gaps are removed and the base looks complete without cracks or weak pressure points that break easily. By following these instructions of caution, one can achieve the best results in no time without much hassle. But if all these works are done right from the beginning with the assistance of an expert, it is assured that you will get the finest results.
