The test results thus obtained are highly accurate in nature and helps in pin pointing the exact flaws which needs rectification. But like every good thing, this also has some challenges.

Challenges from Test Cases Pack Front:
a.You need to manually assess the feasibility of the test well before you can actually begin the procedure in order to prevent time wastage.
b.Before beginning the test, you need to set the criteria for the same.
c.During the occurrence of the test, you need to do proper documentation of the expected results so as to compare them with the obtained ones.
d.Time based scenarios should be taken into consideration.

Challenges from Tools Front:
a.The tools you have selected may be inappropriate for the test being conducted.
b.As the tests will be conducted by machines, they will have certain limitations.

h.There might be challenges regarding Object Repository Maintenance.
i.With the aging of the tool, it may be required to engineer it to make it perform the desired functions. Similar efforts may also be needed during upgradation of tool to a more advanced version.

Challenges from Automation Engineers’ Front:
a.The person performing the test may not be having adequate knowledge about the same.
b.Training of the engineer may not be proper.
c.Professionally trained people may be lacking.
d.The test conductor may have a rigid mindset where he refuses to adapt latest techniques.
e.A process oriented approach to testing process may be lacking.
f.The best possible testing procedure may not be identified by the conductor.
g.Automations test or domain knowledge might be inadequate.
h.The programming skills of the tester may be flawed.
i.Various Frameworks and their proper implementation may not be known by the tester.

Challenges from Framework Front:
a.A flexible framework design and its implementation may not be available.
b.Implementation of handling and figuring exceptional cases may be missing.
c.Upgradation of AUT (application under test) or utilizing the same in different OS may require engineering skills.

Challenges from AUT Front:
a.Application may be unavailable.
b.Multiple interface issues.
c.Dynamic object handling issues.
d.AUT might be built on other OS or newer version of the OS.

These are some of the major challenges that can be faced in automation testing apart from certain management issues like indecision and the delaying in approval of the test tools which are a whole different issue
