Not many of us hear or read about vehicle water. In fact, if you are searching online, you can only make out very few websites that talk about this kind of water which is offered and sold by some companies that produce different kinds of pure water for the consumption of different agencies, institutions and companies.

Let's talk a bit about purification. You may think or guess in a crude way that we need pure water simply because we need something safe to drink and something that does not cause yellow stains in our laundry. If you have not known anything else, let me tell you how banal this generalization is, although it makes some sense. Water purification systems remove harmful contaminants, preventing them from ever reaching your taps. Filtration systems of water for general public use, nonetheless, do not remove all the traces of impurities, a minute percentage of which stays in your tap water. Don't worry for the glass of water from the faucet is nothing short of potable and unless you drink from a contaminated glass, you will have slim chances of being admitted in an emergency room for diarrhea.

Pure ...
... water comes in different versions and grades. Water companies reserve such information for laboratories and industries that buy a specific type of water from them. For instance, a scientist at a microbiological institution may have different specific requirements than a chemical engineer working at a pharmaceutical lab. In hospitals, the absence of pathogenic microbes is a must above anything else. In a chemical analysis lab, the absence of ions in laboratory water used for making aqueous solutions of reagents is the prime consideration. One should know that in any of the said applications, tap water may not be suitable. Even a car battery manufacturer knows better than adding tap water in the battery.

Vehicles use some water in engine batteries and much during car washing. However, one could find that the application of pure water is more of a necessity in car batteries. Some may be tempted to use plain water but its appreciable mineral content may alter the ionic balance inside the battery. This shortens the lifespan of the wet cell; hence, car experts suggest usage of deionized or distilled water instead.

You might be a little boggled by the number of operative terms used here. There are only two general terms here to be remembered and these are plain water and pure water. The former is known as ordinary or tap water that is generally considered potable and safe for a wide range of uses. The latter comes with so many names (e.g. distilled, deionized, or demineralized water) depending upon who uses and what process it underwent. When used in autoclaves, a deionized water, for instance, may become known as autoclave water. As a chemical solvent, it becomes analytical or HPLC water.
