Phase two of the redevelopment of Edinburgh Airport is underway, which could see employment opportunities for tradespersons with approved electrical qualifications.

This stage will see a central search security area being built, which will give more room to passengers when passing through the facility and also double the number of X-ray machines available to security.

Phase one of the project involved the construction of a new departure lounge and managing director of Edinburgh Airport Gordon Deward expressed his delight at the upgrades to the building.

"With more and more people passing through our airport, it is right to invest now in expanding the terminal building and improve facilities so our passengers enjoy the best possible experience, both when they depart and when they arrive," he said.

Electricians and plumbers who have taking training courses may be required to ensure high standards throughout the development.

Flights from the airport currently go to more than 100 destinations, while nine million passengers pass through it each year.
