On the 30th of June 2015 petrolheads worldwide will be eagerly looking towards Japan to see what the future of the Subaru BRZ could be like. This is the day that Subaru will release the new BRZ STI model for the Japanese market only. Bearing in mind the limited release, some drivers may wonder what the significance could be. This position has some merit as it is extremely unlikely that Subaru will change their mind and initiate a wider release. However, in the past Subaru have used these kinds of vehicle as a showcase for future models. This means that features that have been utilised in this latest model could soon be used on the BRZ that is available in Australia. So what new and exciting features can we expect to see?

Will the Subaru BRZ 2016 Get the STI Performance Upgrades?

Subaru have stated that the BRZ will get significant upgrades on the 2016 model. These performance modifications will include a front under spoiler, 18” custom STI wheels, Michelin PSS high-performance tyres and a brand new STI aero kit. Underneath the car will be upgraded with an STI Sport exhaust system, STI suspension, Bilstein shock absorbers, STI springs, Brembo brakes and a larger diameter drive shaft. These improvements will drastically improve the handling and performance characteristics of the new BRZ. Although an upgraded engine would also be a welcome addition it is unlikely to happen in the near future. However, with the sheer wealth of improvements on offer a new engine would surely be the icing on the cake at this point.

Will There be any STI Upgrades in the BRZ Cabin?

The interior of the new BRZ will have a large number of STI touches that will add a little flair to the cabin. The most obvious addition will be the new STI branded Recaro performance seats. The instrumentation and gauges will have the STI logo and there will be STI trim throughout the cabin. The steering wheel will be a leather model directly from the BRZ tS model. Additionally a Panasonic navigation and audio system will be fitted as standard.
