The next step is to decide how many people are invited as without numbers it is impossible to organise invitations, a venue or seating plans, so get scribbling with your list before moving onto the next part. From here the food and drink is next, and this will largely be decided by personal preference and budget. If you want a sit down meal you have to make sure the reception venue is capable of holding it, and if not, a buffet-style meal may work better. Meals can be as fancy or as simple as you choose, as can the cake and flowers. It is important to remember that if it doesn't work in the budget then go for something simpler.

Last but not least, the dreaded seating plan! Working out who likes who, who will work well with who, and how to fit them all in is tricky. It is advisable to enlist the help of a friend or a family member who knows everyone to help you. Maybe a family member can make the cake or arrange the flowers. The meal needn't consist of six courses if it is not affordable. It is your wedding; possibly the one day in your life when you won't be judged or criticised!
