It is a popular notion that the consumption of dietary fats should be limited if you want to lose body weight fast.

In an effort to lose body weight fast, low-fat diets have become the convention; this is because we've been made to believe that fats are evil and harmful and should be avoided at all costs.

Despite the current obesity crisis in the United States (7 out of 10 people who are aged over 25 are considered overweight), the dietary fat consumption is at an all time low. Yes. That's true! We're consuming LESS fat, but many of us are FATTER than we have ever been.

How is this possible?

It's quite clear actually, body fat increase is wrongly attributed to dietary fat; in other words, dietary fat in itself does NOT cause increased body fat. While it's true that some types of fat do contribute to excess fat storage, other types can actually help you lose body weight fast.

There are many ways in which these fats, when consumed on a daily basis, can help you lose body weight fast; some of them are as follows

1) A diet with the right amount of these fats can help reduce cravings and control appetite.

2) Another important benefit of healthy fats is that they help in regulating testosterone levels.

Testosterone is critical because it is one of the most powerful fat burning and muscle building substances in your body. (Both men and women benefit from testosterone.)

3) When your fat intake dips too low, your body will automatically slow down your metabolism to conserve energy.

4) Low fat diets are often high in sugar. Diets that are high in simple sugars are a major contributing factor to obesity.

Apart from increasing the fat burning metabolic rate, essential fatty acids provide many health benefits; some of these are listed below.

- Energy production
- Hemoglobin production
- Brain and nerve tissue development
- Lowering of high blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels
- Insulin and blood sugar stabilization

If you sincerely want to lose body weight fast, you must ensure that at least 15% of your daily caloric intake is made up of healthy fats. You should include healthy fats in 1 or 2 of your daily meals; great sources include cold water fish, nuts, seeds, legumes, and avocado. Healthy oils such as flaxseed or olive oil can also be added to your meals.

I'm sure you'll be a little hesitant at first, but including healthy fats in your diet is really one of the best ways to lose body weight fast.
