After contacting Twistfix through our 'Find-A-Contractor' service, the homeowner’s details were sent to registered contractors in the West Midlands. Damp-Tech Ltd. Subsequently surveyed the building, issued a report and were selected by the homeowner to carry out the repairs.

The recently-purchased house had suffered damp penetration in several places, leading to extensive timber damage. After an initial survey to fully diagnose the extent of the problem, a remedial plan was drawn up and submitted to Terry Whittington, the homeowner, for approval. When this was given, work began on the daunting project, which included a long list of repairs and treatments.

Several joists and floorboards, had become so damaged by damp rot that they first needed to be removed and replaced with new pre-treated timber. All of the remaining wood-work was then treated with powerful and effective Microtech timber treatment to resist fungal decay, prevent woodworm attack and preserve the service life of the wooden floors. Difficult to treat joist-ends were paid particular attention and where treated with deeply penetratin wood preservatives. ...
... Air-bricks were installed to the property in order to increase airflow beneath the floors; good sub floor ventilation reducing the likelihood of timber decay.

To prevent further damage, anew damp proof course was installed when Damp-Tech injected our BBA certified Dampcure 3000 system. This highly-effective process protects against rising damp, providing an effective and durable DPC barrier for the future. A band of damp and salt contaminated wall plaster, up to a level of 1m, was removed and replaced with a sand cement render treated containing the appropriate waterproofing agents and salt inhibitors.

All of the damp prooofing and timber preservation work carried out in Birmingham by Damp-Tech is covered under the popular and independant Insured Guarantees Scheme. The home owner; Mr Whittington is incredibly happy with the standard of work and quality of materials. In a letter of recommendation sent to Twistfix, he writes, “The project has now been completed to our total satisfaction & I would certainly recommend both your company’s products & Damp-Tech Midlands Ltd for the really good service we have received.”
